About

My name is Dilfuza and welcome to my Blog!

I am an Early Years Educator.

When I would dream about who I would be in the future, I never thought I would become a teacher. I was fortunate enough to get an English teacher role at the first step of my career. Being an English teacher has always been one of the most popular, well paid, and interesting jobs in Uzbekistan, as well as in other countries.

Initially, when I started teaching, my motivation was more extrinsic than intrinsic. However, by fulfilling the role of a teacher, I have come to understand that I enjoy teaching the students and I have felt proud of myself, and proud of them, when I see that they make progress in learning. It gave me stimulus to move forwards in my teaching career. I continued being an early years teacher at the school which followed the British curriculum. Later on, I have worked as a foundation teacher in one of the nurseries in Dubai, UAE, for 4 years. Currently I am working as a Reception teacher at Westminster International School in Tashkent. I have almost 14 years of working experience in early years teaching and this year I have decided to study for PGCE for my professional development which I have looked forward to doing for a long time. I would like to familiarize myself with the pedagogical theories and build a good combination of working practice and theory. However, experience and training does not necessarily make an effective teacher.

In my blog I would like to share my experience and opinion about technologies I used in Teaching and learning and also I would like to discuss about technologies I found interesting and useful to use in Education.

  1. Dear Dilfuza, teaching young learners is not always a happiness but also a struggle sometimes. Do you remember any situation when an idea of quitting teaching came to your mind? Even for a second?

  2. Thank you for an interesting question.
I thought several times about quitting teaching when I just started, when I was not confident in what I was doing. But now I don't, instead I am trying to find ways to get better knowledge and experience to improve in Teaching.

Learning Theories

In this post I would like to write a reflection on George Siemens' article about "Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age" and write about other learning theories Constructivism, Cognitivism and Behaviorism which stand behind using technologies in Teaching and learning from my own practice.     In my early years of teaching around 2010, technology was not developed that well and was not used widely in Education. Only sending emails was popular at that time but was not the main way of communication at schools and universities. We used to have journals of Attendance, marking on the notebooks and writing on the whiteboards. These were all tiring for the teacher, because you need to have enough time to check and mark everyone’s homework and you need to make sure that everyone can see the notes on whiteboard well. But nowadays, as technology has rapidly developed and has become essential part of our everyday life, we know what knowledge can be found where and w...
